Introduction

Kent Architecture Centre seeks to help achieve quality improvements to the built environment in the South East by working with design professionals, decision-makers and the wider community

The Centre encourages people to understand good design and to demand the best in design quality. It does this by promoting and offering expert advice to all who commission buildings and the spaces around them by:

  • Providing a comprehensive and inclusive range of urban planning and design services from the project feasibility stage through to strategic consultancy
  • Employing a highly committed team of professionals - architects, planners, urban designers, education specialists and researchers plus external specialists including conservation and public art consultants to boost this expertise as the workload demands

The Centre works on a not-for-profit basis, receiving regular funding from Kent County Council, Medway Council (the area in which we are based), CABE and SEEDA, in addition to carrying out project commissions mainly for local authorities. The Centre also tenders for work in the open market in the same way as traditional private sector design consultancies.
